It all depends on what your purpose is for the blocks. Mind mapping isn't technical blocks, but brainstorming. The mind map is rarely the artifact.
It's the process used to ensure all roads are covered before generating the artifacts.

I will note that my mainframe dev generates some nice flow diagrams with FreeMind, a lovely Java-based open source mind-mapping tool. Said diagrams have shown up in my docs. Exports in just about any format you like:
