When I do a script (as I am in fact procrastinating doing this very moment)
I make a table, with the left side Script and the right side Action. I put
one sentence in each row and usually (but not necessarily) an action to go
with it. This helps visualize how the video will go, what you'll be showing
on the screen at all times. As far as recording, I have the voice person
read with a two second pause between each sentence. After the audio is
complete, I do the video to match it and edit the audio as necessary.
Apart from that, think about if you need any contextual information at the
beginning of the video that may need a visual, like a diagram. Do you want
an intro with a bulleted list of what you'll be covering? Effects-wise,
don't go crazy with the zooming and wipes and dissolves--pick a specific
effect you use for a specific reason and be consistent. I try to use zooms
sparingly and, if I use them, try to zoom back out before changing screens,
so the viewer doesn't lose their bearings.
For video, record at the right aspect ratio. 16:9 is good... 1280 x 720.
That will do HD on YouTube.
There. I am all adviced out and sadly must return to writing my script.
