I would agree with others are saying here that the STC totally depends on
how active the chapter in your area is. I've only been going for a year or
so to the STC events in Toronto, but I do enjoy the chance to meet other
tech writers in person to share ideas and war/horror stories (tech writers
seem to have the best ones). All the events I've been to are free, but I'm
ok with paying the membership dues to cover some of the organization's
costs.
