TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
So... IT has started moving us all to new laptops that use Windows 8.1. Time has come for the tech writing group to migrate, and our first snag has come up with PureText, which apparently crashed everything when the IT migration guy tried to run it on the first laptop he is trying to set up.
We know our Adobe products should be okay (we are a Framemaker shop), unsure about some of our Frame add-ins and we shall see (biggest concern is Finalyser, which we use as our archive tool). Anyone else out there in tech writer land already have to move to Windows 8.1 and have any more ideas on what to expect?
