TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
Another reason: I find the process of creating an index helps me with organization of a document. Why did I refer to the same thing in two different places? Wait are these the same thing? Why isn't that explained over there? That sort of thing.
Not only does it help the all-too-rare index-users in finding content, it helps all the others with better organization of the document.

Thanks everybody ... I am actually trying to convince my group to keep the index and needed the ammo. :-) Kari.
