Why do you need to uninstall the old one first? You should be able to install the 64-bit Office 2016 and have both versions installed and usable on your machine.

My company is part of the Microsoft home use program, so I have just received my copy of all the Microsoft Office Professional, Project, and Visio for 2016.
I can't install it right away though because it seems my current Office installation is 32 bit, while my computer (and the new version I received) are 64 bit, so until I make the decision to uninstall what I currently have (which I'm so reluctant to do for some reason), I was wondering if anyone had any feedback on Office 2016. Please tell me it's not an online version.
Thanks in advance!
