That's what _IBM Style_ says.
To state a requirement that includes earlier or later versions of a
product, use the phrases "or earlier" to
indicate earlier versions and "or later" to indicate subsequent
versions.
Examples
- This memo applies to IBM Mobile Connect, version 3 release 2, or
earlier.
- Install DB2 Database for Linux, UNIX, and Windows, Version 9.7, or
later.
Also:
If you have to refer to more than one release (for example V5.0,
V5.0.1, V5.1, and V5.1.1 but not V6.0),
do not use a convention such as V5.x or V5.n. Instead, write out the
information completely. If the product
name changes but the numbering scheme continues, use both product
names.
Examples
- This update applies to all releases of version 5.
- This change affects V7.0, V7.0.1, and V7.1.
- This change affects iSeries Access for Windows Version 5 Release 4
and System i Access for Windows Version 5
Release 5.
