Well, it was kind of a joke, but still, in most cases where an employer
lays people off and then offers them their jobs back as temps, they make
a lot less and get no benefits. The improvement in earnings comes when
you get a gig with a different company that has already tried to
outsource/offshore their writing to cut-rate contractors once and has
suffered the consequences of the attempt.
