Depends on how free you want it, how automated you need it to be, security via encryption, etc.
Some people like services like Mozy (www.mozy.com) and Carbonite (www.carbonite.com) since these are very reliable, don't cost too much, encrypt stored data, etc.
Others simply copy manually (or use auto-linked folders) to Dropbox (www.dropbox.com), Microsoft OneDrive (https://onedrive.live.com/about/en-us/), or Box (www.box.com) ...
Many of these storage sites offer some amount of data for free, and charge for more storage.
My own preference: Mozy (designed for backups) or Box (designed for general storage).

Subject: Cloud backup?
I'm considering backing up my media server to the cloud. Are you doing this? Who is your preferred (non-Apple) service?
Being a Scot, price is certainly a factor (as is upload speed and security).
