TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
This sounds analogous to what happened to technical writers in the 90s.
The DTP operators who used to convert our text drafts to formatted
masters were phased out and we were expected to be able to do that
ourselves. And now marketing writers are having to take over the work of
phased out web developers, both in-house and outsourced. The new
meaningless job title substitutes puffery for extra pay.
Instead of tech writer + web developer, expect to see tech writer +
marketing content director.

Surprisingly (or not) I haven't seen even one ad that combines
technical content writing with webmastering.
