Generally, it strikes me as "Tech Writing 101," except for the fact that
the "nothing" in "knows nothing" is always going to be relative. For
example, even the tired old "write instructions for making a peanut
butter and jelly sandwich" exercise starts with the assumption that the
reader won't have to be told how to plant wheat and grapes.
