I have learned the best way to approach this is to propose any fixes or adjustments as tasks in our project system.
Then it is up to someone with a higher pay grade than mine to either ignore it or assign it to someone.
I have done my duty and my conscience can rest easy.

I tried for years to get developers to let me get involved with the UI - tool tips, wording on the control labels, etc. It always came down to defending their territory.
