TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
*Send mail as:* > *When replying to a message:* has been set to *Reply from
the same address the message was sent to*.
But a thread will go like this:
1) I send an email as chris -at- isntthatwrite -dot- com to recipient XYZ.
2) XYZ responds to chris -at- isntthatwrite -dot- com -dot-
3) I respond to XYZ, with the *To:* field clearly addressed to XYZ.
4) Repeat step 2.
5) I try to respond to XYZ, but now *To:* shows chris -at- isntthatwrite -dot- com -dot-
Not yet being trained to always check at step 5, this has caused me more
than once to think I've turned in an assignment, only to have the client
ask hours or a day later, "Where the @#!% is it?"
