I'm in Gene's camp, although it's OK by me if me clients are across the
continent.
But I'm *so* done with recruiters, with only two NorCal-based people ever
actually helping me to get a gig. The rest were all playing the numbers and
didn't give two hoots about placing me somewhere I really fit. As it
happened, those two recruiters were anomalies within their own firms, in
that they actually took the time to get to know me a bit. Attempting to
work with others in those same firms proved fruitless.
Likewise, today I don't waste my time with packagers. I find my own
assignments or assignments find me. Like M&Ms, there's "no chocolate mess."
