Hi
I am also a fan of FrameMaker; however, I think the problem with Word is
that people think of it as a very simple tool, while it has many
sophisticated capabilities that have to be learnt.
Since we know FrameMaker is complicated we go to courses and have forums
etc, while Word seems to have forums and courses for the advanced user
available.
In addition to some of the solutions suggested, in the "Modify Style"
dialog box you have to make sure that the "Automatically update" dialog box
is not selected, as this makes changes.
In addition, you can make character styles to apply characteristics such as
bold etc.
