I know I'm late to the conversation, but I was going through old emails and thought I'd chip in my two cents.
If I had the choice, I think "Chaos Coordinator" is a fairly appropriate title for what I do. Oftentimes, I'm sorting out chaos and coordinating with a myriad of introverts who speak a computer language that I'm still trying to understand.
The captain idea sounds nice, but in reality, I think a technical writer's duties are more along the lines of swabbing the deck and keeping the crew from mutiny. ð
