Hey Keith,
I retired 4 1/2 years ago and I still work but I do it when I want and only take on contracts that challenge me. Enjoy your retirement. Your life is full of all types of choices. Make of it whatever you want.
I think about 1/2 the people on this list are in similar situations. I love being challenged by technology. I'm working on getting my AWS Cloud Practitioner Certification this month because I want to and I like that type of work. I do what makes me happy and keeps my mind engaged. I'm not the type to go play in my garden. ð

For what itâs worth, I was âforcibly retiredâ in late August 2018 when my company outsourced the tech pubs function. I refused to give in and still do occasional contract tech writing in addition to publishing a quarterly journal for professional and amateur astronomers worldwide as a âhobbyâ.
So whether youâre fully employed or not, donât give up the ship. Tech writing in its various forms remains at the top of my list.
