The Speakers:
JoAnn Hackos * Dr. Hackos is internationally recognized for her
expertise in document management and design. She is
president of Comtech Services, a national technical
communications firm based in Denver and San Jose.
Dr. Hackos was STC's international president in 1992-93.
Lance E. Dublin * Dublin is the chairman and CEO of The Dublin Group, Inc.,
a company he founded in 1984 to improve human
performance. He is a nationally recognized leader in the
design, development and delivery of custom communications
and learning solutions.
Trish Russo * Russo develops multimedia instructional material
at the University of Dayton Research Institute Armstrong
Laboratory at Williams Air Force Base. A photographer
and graphic artist, she is responsible for the design
of multimedia visualization training environments
for the laboratory's virtual reality research.
A. Binion
Amerson, Jr. * A writer and editor of scientific, medical, and technical
material for 30 years, Amerson is a senior technical
writer for OpenConnect Systems in Dallas. He is the new
Region 5 Director-Sponsor.
Emily Sopensky * Sopensky is a freelance writer and publications consultant
with more than 20 year's experience working with such
companies as IBM, Texas Instruments, Tandem Computers,
small start-ups, and federal and state government
agencies.
Laurie Modrey * Modrey has more than 20 year's experience as a writer,
editor, and instructor. She is an editor for
SEMATECH's Technology Transfer group.
Cass Brady * Brady will describe the Information Mapping Method, a
proprietary, research-based methodology for
analyzing, organizing, and presenting information.
Alan Korwin * Korwin, a Phoenix Chapter STC senior member, is a
professional writer and management consultant.
Widely published and a frequent talk-show guest, he is
board chairman of the Arizona Book Publishing Association
and on the board of the STC national publicity
committee.
Don Rogers * Rogers is Southwest Area Manager for Dataware
Technologies, the world's largest supplier of
products and services for CD-ROM application development.
Rogers has been intimately involved in the growth of
CD-ROM as an accepted delivery mechanism for technical
documentation.
Elena F. Bullard * Bullard teaches graphic communication and desktop video
at the Arizona State University Department of
Manufacturing and Industrial Technology. She has done
intensive research on graphic communication, and her work
has been published on CD-ROM distributed by Apple
Computer.

Travel Notes:
The Scottsdale Hilton is 15 miles from Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport. Call
SuperShuttle from a courtesy phone in the terminal. One-way fare is
approximately $10.
Fees:
The cost for the Region 5 Conference is $75 for members and $85 for
nonmembers. An optional Leader's workshop, which is open to all members,
is an additional $15.
The price for attending Saturday only is $35 for members, and $45 for
nonmembers.
Students attend for half price with school ID.
