1994 CAREER RESOLUTIONS
It's a new year! How does your career look in 1994? Will you be a candidate
for a promotion, a new job, or a new contract?
Come to the January meeting to learn about successful resumes, portfolios, and
interviews. Four panelists will offer expert advice about the current job
market and how to prepare for it.
Our four panelists are Mike Doyle of PUBSNET, Dana Farnan of the ORACLE
Group, Phil Sullivan of Advance Personnel Associates, and Carol Szatkowski
of Clear Point Consultants.
* Mike will discuss the purpose of an interview, your goals for an
interview, and interviewing tips. Mike, as head of PUBSNET, has over a decade
of experience in writing and directing corporate software documentation and
nearly a decade of experience lecturing in software technical writing at the
University of Massachusetts--Lowell.
* Dana will discuss the current contract job market in our area. Dana
has over eight years of experience placing engineers and technical
documentation consultants.
* Phil will discuss the components of a "selling" resume and the
difference between a contract resume and a permanent resume. Phil, as Sales and
Marketing Manager for Advance, has over 20 years of experience in the high
tech industry.
* Carol will discuss what makes a good portfolio and what to leave with
the interviewer. Carol started Clear Point Consultants in 1989 to specialize
in the placement if technical writers and trainers.
