commas go inside the quotes, regardless. "
Actually, not any more (thank whatever you believe in for miracles). Chicago
14 allows punctuation outside the quotation marks. Yay -- they've caught up
with reality!
For my two cents, am easier convention is to use bold, or even a keypress
font if you have one available. Then the quote confusion is a moot point.
Plus I've had users type the quotes.
