Thanks Greg, for posting the netiquette info.
I found it surprising that there is no mention of acknowledgement of posts.
I mean that, if I post a request for help or information and receive personal
responses i.e. sent to me rather than to TECHWR, I feel obliged either to post
a summary to the group which identifies the respondents or send an
acknowledgement to each. (which doesn't mean I've never slipped up)
If I take the time to dig up info for someone, I like to know that they have
received it. Or can I rely on undelivered posts bouncing back to me?
I think that it is only necessary to acknowledge help, not unsolicited info,
comments, or acknowledgements. Maybe it is only necessary to acknowledge
personally posted help not stuff posted publicly.
Let me say up front that I intend to continue acknowledging all personal
responses and any public "helps" I receive, no matter how many
"waste of bandwidth" scoldings this post provokes.
What do you think?
