In the mail? Is someone going to walk up and give it to me? These are
the things that "receive" brings to mind. I understand the sentence, but
because of "receive"'s connotations, it comes off a bit stilted.
I'm sure it's just comfort and habit, but I still stick with "The window
manager appears."
