Finally down to preferences?
Hardly.
Putting the items in a bulleted list is a viable and clear
alternative to commas in a series. The space replaces the
comma. Remember, you can leave out the "and" and not cause
confusion in a regular series (It is, in fact, the only
other rhetorical option.), but you can't leave out the
comma without the potential for ambiguity. Numbering is
much the same. These are good alternatives for clarity.
(They also add white space.)
