Subject:Ventura vs the printer From:Barb Miller <millerb -at- TCPLINK -dot- NREL -dot- GOV> Date:Wed, 20 Jul 1994 08:10:58 MST
Does anyone out there send electronic Ventura files to their printer.
Have you experienced any problems? Better yet, have you solved them?
Our Government Printing Office contract printer is having problems
opening some files. Once opened, sometimes the line endings change (we
found this out on a blueline).
We (and the printer) are using the latest software version. We're
trying different transfer methods. Two jobs were on SyQuest disks
because the document contained digitized photos and wouldn't fit on
standard 3-1/2-inch disks. Unfortunately, the printer only has a
Bernoulli drive on his PC. So the files had to be converted first.
We're trying to save files to Mac and then ship. We're also looking at
sending them over a modem. For the latter we're assuming we'll have to
compress the files to save upload and download time, which I
understand can cause problems.
For all you Mac people, yes, we're looking at changing platforms. In
the meanwhile any suggestions? any solutions? anyone want a mint?
