Me: savvy northern New Jersey woman of mystery.
He: Ph.D. student in computer science, turning into a grand person.
Name: Usually Mom; during the bad years (around the terrible twenty-two's) -
MOTHER or MOTHER DEAREST (as in the Crawford biography)
Post Mark Twain period (as he got older, I got smarter): Mom? (meaning,
"Mother, how do you know that?" or "Moommm" meaning "Thanks".
Best of all: I sent his lab mates Strunk and White. No thank you's; I sent
them dum-dum lollypops for Halloween, I got 4 e-mail thanks addressed to
"Matts mom" (notice - no hypostr. for possessive...hmmmm). I sent thanks for
the thanks and signed off as "Mattsmom - lynxless, harddriveless, monochrome."
One of his profs said, "Your MOTHER uses e-mail? By definition, moms don't
use e-mail." hehe - my e-mail has a bifocal interface. Now - type big you all.
