I think Dan's focus on the rhetorical issues is really useful. I've use
criteria sheets also and found them helpful. Even better, I find that
after the second or third assignment, I can successfully guide the class
in creating their own criteria sheet for their assignments. This helps
them to be more invested in what they are doing.
