Please enlighten me. Messages with lines longer than some fixed
limit get special treatment from my mail reader (MS Mail).
Each such line is split into two lines, with the rightmost character
of the first line dropped. To compensate, an extra blank line is
added.

For example, the original line might be:

Now is the time for all good Whigs to come to the aid of the party.

I might see:

Now is the time for all good Whigs to come to th

aid of the party.

Is the culprit my mail reader or the list servert? Is there anything
I can do to fix this?

Thanks!
