This is speaking as a Tech Writer who is also a Contractor...
- Thesaurus
- A large canvas bag that will hold all your own documentation and writing
tools that you have to schlep from place to place. A small wheelbarrow
might do nicely...
- A gift certificate to a book store
- Walkman to play while working to drown out all extraneous noises in the
background - I am one of those that needs quiet to think and work, and
again as a contractor, you usually are given leftover offices (read that
as space no one will sit it!) or a public area to work in.
- A capped travel mug or thermal mug for beverages. It never fails that when
you pour yourself a cup of coffee and think you have 2 minutes to yourself,
someone calls a meeting or an engineer walks into your office.
