Keith, it would be difficult for a WinHelp file, or any file for that
matter, to itself control the number of users that simultaneously have it
open unless the file system in which it resides is VERY object-oriented. The
kind of access control you're talking about, for NetWare or LANtastic or
what have you, must exist at the network operating system (NOS) level. For
example, NetWare, the main NOS we use here at Eicon, has quite a
sophisticated system of permissions that can apply to directories or files.
Chances are that if no one has bothered to actually limit the number of
users that can open a particular *read-only* file, by default that number
will either be infinity or something like 256 or 65535. As far as WinHelp
files go, well, read-only is IT! :-)
