Subject:Explanations of Acronyms From:Patrick O'Connell <patricko -at- EICON -dot- COM> Date:Thu, 9 Mar 1995 11:05:00 PST
Usually it's possible to figure these out from the context after several
months of reading (that's how *I* did it :-) but notwithstanding:
IMHO = in my humble opinion
FWIW = for what it's worth
BTW = by the way
LOL = laughing out loud
ROTFL = rolling on the floor laughing
ROTFLMAO = rolling on the floor laughing my ASS off
BRB = be right back (usually seen more on IRC channels than on mailing
lists)
I still haven't figured out what IBBY means ("I'll be...???"). I've seen
Spencer F. Katt, noted feline columnist for PC Week, use it, so it must
meant something!
I'm sure there's a list on rtfm.mit.edu, *the* FTP archive site for archived
Usenet postings, but in the dir or subdir for what newsgroup, I'm not sure.
