Best of both worlds, eh?
I discussed the merits of Word 6.0 versus FrameMaker in a previous
post, so I won't repeat that here. Basically, Word is very adept
at doing database merges and many other word processing and office
management tasks. FrameMaker and PageMaker are very adept at laying
out pages with text and graphics, building long documents, etc. As
far as I know, none of the page layout or desktop publishing programs
support mail merges. Check out MS Publisher, but I doubt it.
The reason is that the software packages are designed for different
user classes. I have a feeling that if mail merging is most important
to you should stick with Word; if you are more interested in page
layout and publishing, FrameMaker is a good choice.
