Subject:THE MOST UNKINDEST CUT From:Michael LaTorra <mikel -at- ACCUGRAPH -dot- COM> Date:Wed, 10 May 1995 11:39:02 MDT
In the latest issue of TIME, an article about Congressional budget cuts
is titled:
THE MOST UNKINDEST CUT
I've been seeing more and more typos and grammatical errors in magazine
and book text these days, but I've never before seen such a blatant error in
a title.
A couple of books I've read recently contained errors that any spellchecker
would have identified, as well as having mistakes that any human editor
should have seen. BTW, these were NOT manuals or third-party technical
books, but rather hardcover, general interest books from major publishers.
Does anyone else get the impression that editing standards in major
publications have been falling of late?
Live long & prosper,
