19th Annual Practical Conference on Commmunication

The Practical Conference on Communication (PCOC, pronounced "peacock")
is sponsored by the Society for Technical Communication/East Tennessee
Chapter (STC/ETC), and features professionals from throughout the
United States who share their communications experience, insights,
methods, and research.
You are invited to share your expertise at the 19th Annual PCOC,
to be held in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, October 12-13, 1995. STC/ETC is
accepting proposals for 20-minute presentations or 1-hour workshops
on technical communication subjects, including:
. writing and editing
. management
. evaluation and usability testing
. career opportunities
. design, layout, and visual arts
. indexing, abstracting, and translation
. public relations and marketing
. education, training, and professional development
. hypermedia and multimedia
. communications research
. publishing on the Internet and World Wide Web
Special Benefits for Presenters - Presenter's papers will be
published in the conference proceedings. Speakers will also receive
a special $100 registration rate (a discount of 20%), be feted at
a speakers' breakfast, and be invited to a preconference reception.
Equipment Available - STC/ETC will provide overhead projectors, a
slide projector, a VHS VCR, and a limited number of LCD projectors.
Presenters will be responsible for supplying any software, computers,
or other equipment needed for their presentations.
Submissions - Please submit a 100-word abstract of your proposed
presentation or a one-page description of your proposed workshop
(including plans for group activities). Also, please provide a brief
autobiography. Complete the e-mail form below and send it and your
proposal to the e-mail address below by June 30. Presenters will be
notified of acceptance by July 31 and must register by September 15.
A camera-ready copy of each paper must be submitted by September 1
for inclusion in the conference proceedings.
