TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
Reports to
Assistant to President for Publications
Functions
Coordinate, edit, and produce four issues of Technical
Communication annually.
Stipend
The editor shall receive a stipend for successful completion
of the above duties. [Previous editors indicate that the position
requires a
half-time commitment.]
Technical Communication is the quarterly journal of The Society for
Technical Communication with a circulation of 18,000.
Qualifications
o 5 years' experience with publishing for scholarly or
professional audiences
o 5 years' experience (or the equivalent) as an editor
o Excellent oral and written communication skills and the
ability to work under pressure
o Demonstrated track record of having worked independently on
complex products or projects
o Strong interpersonal skills in the areas of facilitation,
team-building, conflict resolution, and coaching
o Broad understanding of the profession of technical
communication
o Keen appreciation of the needs of the practitioner audience
of technical communicators
