I've heard this sentiment before -- that American Indians are essentially
a taboo topic if you don't have Indian ancestry. You aren't allowed
to name your sports team after them, or even write about them. Such
things are "exploitation."
How this code of silence is supposed to benefit American Indians is a
mystery to me.
