Why the implicit flame (one question and counting)? You remind me of the
netheads who forget that they were once just starting out themselves. Are we
to infer that "online" is just for knowledgeable professionals who
occasionally solicit quick tweaks to quirky processes via terse technoquery
(that's two!)? Or otherwise are we lesser mortals to lurk in awe while the
sages dispense their all-mighty opinions (yipes! three)? Or maybe you were
just sincerely trying to save bandwidth (for yourself? oops! four) or gently
telling Lori to RTFM, dear, or letting her know there just wasn't time or
space to deal with all those questions online, try paper, honey!
Lori, feel free to speak or ask what's on your mind. That's what the net's
all about.
Emily, if I've misread you and therefore been too hard on you, my apologies.
Maybe all you meant was that there were too many questions for YOU to answer
online, given other demands on your online time. I could understand that.
But that's not what I read. Your response--"too many questions for
online"--sounded curtly dismissive and stifling. In any case, you're always
free to choose whether or not to answer a question, just as Lori should
always feel free to ask or not ask.
