A good book on pronouns is "The Handbook of Nonsexist Writing for Writers,
Editors and Speakers" by Casey Miller and Kate Swift. My paperback copy was
published in 1980 by Barnes and Noble Books, and I'm fairly sure there are
other editions available. Chapter 2 addresses "The Pronoun Problem" and
contains may examples. (Hope I'm not repeating an earlier posting -- this is
