Hi Keith,
I designed a Word 6.0 macro that lets you interactively index based on
styles: you select a style and the macro offers you at least 2 possible
entries for every hit - our context is software manuals). Moreover, it
checks for the selection language and offers the possible index in that
language, whatever Word you're using. When you're finished indexing it
resets the character formatting to Default Para. and changes the color to
cyan, which helps readability.
There is one problem, it's still under contruction (as I implemented the
selectable styles recently).
If you're interested in having the ASCII text of the macro, e-mail me so
that I can send the attachment. Maybe you can complete it on your own or
modify it to your context.
