Job Description:
This highly visible position requires a creative problem solver who can work as
part of a team to write, design and manage software user documentation. Help
catapult the organization into Windows online help and documentation while
learning software products (MONITROL, Cue, Kinetix, rtPM) and using software
tools (FrameMaker, X Windows and UNIX). Learn and support the Hilco standard
product life cycle process. Move into the new PC environment with Windows and
NT expertise.
Write documentation, release notes, product announcements and customer letters
for new releases and new products. Manage vendor relationships. Track cost of
documentation; plan documentation products and participate in product launch
schedules.
Qualifications:
Prefer a BA degree or equivalent work experience in technical writing, English,
journalism or technical communications. Excellent communication skills needed
both verbal and written. Prefer a minimum of two years experience in developing
software user documentation and reference guides along with an understanding of
UNIX-based software. Must have research and interview skills along with
experience with online help. Would be helpful to have HTML and World Wide Web
experience.
