Subject:Re. "What the hell... on techwhirling list" From:Geoff Hart <geoff-h -at- MTL -dot- FERIC -dot- CA> Date:Thu, 3 Aug 1995 15:16:39 LCL
An anonymous poster asked (about the elevator jokes) "What the hell is
this doing on the techwhirling list?"
I think the answer is pretty obvious... we're turning into a nice
little community here, complete with all the good (and bad)
interpersonal phenomena this implies. Some of us consider other list
members friends, to the extent that this is possible without ever
meeting other list members and what with having to condense long
conversations into a few pithy lines. I like to share a good chuckle
with friends, and so do others. Voila!
I get the list in digest form, and if I lack the time to read an
off-topic or otherwise uninteresting posting, I just hit the page down
key a few times and I'm on to the real meat. I'm prepared to accept
this as the price of occasionally turning up a real chuckle.
