STC's national office has a fairly good bulletin board that posts job
listings. The STC BB number is 703.522.3299; you have to log on and request a
password 24-hours prior to using the service. On the WWW, try looking at
newspapers; for example, the Chicago Trib's classified ads are at http://www.chicago.tribune.com; just search for "technical writer"). Also,
try general job-hunting Web sites such as http://www.careermosaic.com. Two
reference books you may want to consult are: "Finding a Job on the Internet"
by Alfred and Emily Glossbrenner (McGraw-Hill), and "Be your Own Headhunter
Online" by Pam Dixon (Random House). And if you subscribe to America Online,
you can obtain job listings by using the keyword "JOBS".
