Bill Burns quotes the online AHD (gee, is that online in the sense
of being net-accessible? if so, where is it?) for the intransitive
verb "display":
--intr. 1. computer science. To provide information or graphics on a
screen: [e.g.] a personal computer that displays and prints.
but the example makes it clear that the subject in this usage is the
displayer of graphic material, unlike the examples in question where
the subject is the graphic material itself,
