TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
The September 1995 issue of the STC magazine, "INTERCOM," contained an
article called "Using and Abusing Trademarks," by Judy Petersen. The article
recommended several sources for updated trademark info:
1) Writer's Digest - a column called "Trademark Updates." Write to Writer's
Digest, Box 2123, Harlan, IA 51593, USA.
2) The U.S. Trademark Association's free Trademark Hotline. Call (212)
986-5880.
3) The International Trademark Association. They sell an editorial package
with a checklist of about 4,000 correctly spelled trademarks and their
generic terms. Contact: International Trademark Association, 1133 Avenue of
the Americas, New York, NY 10036-6710, USA.
