Subject:Re[2]: Grammar Question: Ensure or Make From:"Virginia L. Krenn" <asdxvlk -at- OKWAY -dot- OKSTATE -dot- EDU> Date:Fri, 27 Oct 1995 15:04:34 -0500
I sent the following E-Mail in response to William's question.
However, since there have been several posts encouraging the use
of "make sure", I decided to post this to the list, as well.
Should I use:
"Make sure that you are off-line prior to selecting this option."
OR
"Ensure that you are off-line prior to selecting this option."
Neither, use
"Be sure that you are off-line prior to selecting this option."
And, on the same topic, never use
"Be sure and ..."
The correct usage would be
"Be sure to ..."
