Yikes!
Is this a test for advanced, ready-to-gradute students who need a taste of
the real world, or are you trying to discourage new students before they
have a chance to find out whether they want to study tech writing.... will
they have the resources availabe (enough for each student since I assume
they are all taking the test at the same time) to answer some of the
questions.....will you have instructued them already about such or
imagined incidents that may come up on a project....or is it a joke?
My initial reaction was that you are planning a "flunker" class designed
to get rid of those who can't hack it. And after thinking about it for a
while, I still don't know. If I were a student in this class and you had
not already given some instruction on these situations, I'd write a letter
to the department chairman explaining such. I'm not an 18-year or even
25-year-old student who sits still any more. When I don't get what I pay
for, I file a complaint (politely and grammtically correct) with the head
honchos.
