Subject:Job Openings - Project Mgr/Tech Writers From:"M. David Orr" <halftail -at- INTERACCESS -dot- COM> Date:Wed, 20 Dec 1995 07:20:59 -0600
We are one of the largest tech writing companies in the Midwest, USA. We
need a project manager for a permanent staff position, and we also need
free-lance tech writers in Chicago and St.Louis.
Project Manager
We need a person with five years tech writing or instructional design
experience developing materials for computer software. On-line help, and CBT
experience is a plus. We are willing to evaluate both experienced and
entry-level managers.
Our company develops computer documentation--print and on-line--
instructor-led training, and, occasionally CBT. We also have a usability
testing service and state-of-the-art lab.
We need a mature person to design materials, manage projects, clients, and
writers. The job is fun and challenging but has high stress at times. Hours
range from a normal 40 to 45 hours per week, up to 60 during deadline phases
of some projects (maybe two or three times a year). This is a good job for a
high-energy, no excuses kind of person. Some very light travel (a few times
a year is required.)
To offset the stress of the job, we are a small (9 staff and 23 contractors)
company with a modern working environment and lots of flexibility about when
and where people work. We are a non-sexist, equal opportunity employer. Our
typical client is either a Fortune 1000 company, a software developer, or a
Big-Eight accounting firm.
We have good medical benefits, paid holidays, vacations, disability, life
insurance, and 401K plan with profit sharing.
Please send a snail mail resume, writing sample, and salary requirements to:

You can e-mail us at WhiteEars -at- aol -dot- com but we'll just ask for the printed
resume and writing samples anyway. We'd prefer the resume and sample first
with subsequent correspondence by e-mail.
Free-lance Writers
We are constantly using free-lance tech writers and instructional designers
with three to five years experience developing materials for computer
software. Need resume, writing sample, and rate information. Some projects
are on client site, others can be done at home. Let us know any restrictions
you have about home versus client-site work. Most of our projects require
full-time work of at least 30 to 40 hours a week, some more. Most projects
are time and materials. You must have your own IBM computer and high speed
modem.
