Senior Technical Writer - Hardware
This is a contract position. The candidate will work as part of a team of
three writers and will be responsible for the complete production (writing,
graphics, formatting, proofing, printing) of assigned work. A minimum of three
day per week on-site work is required.
Responsible for writing and producing Installation Guides, Maintenance Guides
and Operation Manuals for professional video equipment (PC-based and
proprietary platform-based), including distributed A/V servers and editing
equipment. End users of the manuals will be journalists, editors and service
personnel in the professional broadcast industry.
Must be able to demonstrate a good understanding of basic video technology,
including video formats, e.g., component, composite, S-Video, and video
interfaces, e.g. Serial Digital Interface. Must be capable of mechanical
assembly and disassembly of electronics chassis and their components to allow
creation of installation procedures for service personnel. Must be able to
understand engineering design specifications and derive useful end user
information from them. Understanding of basic network and communication
interface technology, e.g. ATM, SCSI, Fibre Channel, P1394 a plus.
Expert and extensive knowledge of MS Word required, with working knowledge of
Robo Help and ability to create graphics in Adobe Illustrator a plus.
5+ years experience with technical degree preferred.
