Everyone,
Thanks to the two people who pointed out that "use of the passive voice is
rarely defensible" is in the active voice. I'm surprised I haven't heard
from more of you. (That's not an invitation. :-) )
My apologies to David F. I was wrong about the passive voice in that
particular sentence.
