Tim Altom says: What I'd like a line on is HyperHelp's limitations.
What sorts of things don't work from platform to platform? DLLs for
sure, and anything that makes a system call. And one user told me to
watch the kind of graphics they used in the Windows version. What
other nasty little snakes are waiting in there?
Me: 1. Remember that color monitors are not as common as they are
in the PC and Mac worlds. The user's screen background could be
gray. WinHelp green could translate to gray. Your jump text could
come out like mud if you don't bold it. Stuff like that. 2. Give
the folks at Bristol (makers of HyperHelp) a chance to reply to your
questions, too. 3. I think one of the E rides at Disneyland used to
be called the Unix Help World for Tech Writers, but it was too
frightening and Public Health Department shut it down. Just kidding.
