>>Has anyone else ever encountered readers who were confused by
italics, particularly readers whose native language does not use the
Roman alphabet?
I took your question to our senior graphics designer, a native of
southern South Korea who has lived in the US for 17 years. She tells
me that she can accept the use of an occasional italicized word for
emphasis, but as a personal preference she does not like italics
overdone. She stresses that this is only a personal preference as
far as she knows. She is not aware of any studies or anything else
that has led to a general principle.
If you have any further questions or cross-examination, fire away.
